Just Be There...

A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside. “Your son is here,” she said to the old man. She had to repeat the words several times before the patient’s eyes opened.

Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he... dimly saw the young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man’s limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.

The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed. All through the night the young Marine sat there in the poorly lighted ward, holding the old man’s hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile. He refused.

Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients. Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.

Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did what she had to do, he waited.

Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but the Marine interrupted her, “Who was that man?” he asked.

The nurse was startled, “He was your father,” she answered.

“No, he wasn’t,” the Marine replied. “I never saw him before in my life.”

“Then why didn’t you say something when I took you to him?”

“I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son just wasn’t here. When I realized that he was too sick to tell whether or not I was his son, knowing how much he needed me, I stayed. I came here tonight to find a Mr. William Grey. His Son was killed in Iraq today, and I was sent to inform him. What was this Gentleman’s Name? “

The nurse with tears in her eyes answered, “Mr. William Grey………”

The next time someone needs you … just be there.

June Ramblings...

So here it is, the "soon" I mentioned in my last post. It's all relative, ya know...sooner vs later...all depends on the date...

Anyway, I think I'll share some things that have been going on with me since I do have a couple of people who read this blog that I don't get to speak with often enough...

I've finally been able to find a doctor who is helping me get healthy. My blood pressure and sugar had been thru the roof!! They were both at unsafe, practically deadly levels. But I'm glad to say they are both well medicated and under control.
I've seen a surgeon about this frikkin hernia and we are working on scheduling the repair surgery. It's not going to be as simple a procedure as I had hoped. He is going to have to basically remove my intestines, untangle them, put them back where they belong and repair my abdominal muscle with a piece of skin from an animal. He assures me this practice is in the forefront of new medical procedures and is totally safe. But if I grow a curly tail, you better believe he will have to make additional repairs!!! The hospital stay for the surgery will be from 3 to 5 days. Luckily, I have vacation time coming up so I won't have to lose a lot of work.
I have a sleep study scheduled to replace my old CPAP machine. For those who don't know, this machine makes you breath properly while sleeping. This, in turn, reduces the effects of sleep apnea to almost none. Added benefits are weight loss, complete night of rest (which I don't get now because I keep waking up), more energy...etc., so basically a lot of good things.
I'm working on getting back down to a target weight, and the more I lose before my surgery the easier it will be to heal.
If you didn't know, I've sold my bike. The plan was to pay off my car then turn around and finance a nice big bike more suitable for road trips. Well, I did pay off the car, but ran into a problem with a loan. Apparently when you pay cash for everything and have not opened any new credit cards in the past 7 years you can't get a loan. So now I'll just penny pinch and pay cash for a new bike. With no car payment, it shouldn't be too difficult!! Not to mention I will have plenty of time to test ride different models and make sure I get the right one for me!
I've had a couple health things of note the past couple of left eye was swollen shut with what turned out to be a type of cellulitis. After 15 days of antibiotics it's finally back to the normal sparkling blue!
This past weekend I had a major allergic reaction to something. My hands were extremely swollen and very painful, I broke out in hives all over...I was a mess! My girl took me to the ER, and after a 2+hour wait the doc shot me full if Benadryl and steroids. They had me wait an hour or so to make sure it was working. Because my hands and wrists were hurting so bad, I asked for some pain relief. Have I mentioned how awesome dilauded is? Good stuff!! So we basically determined it was my new body much for saving a buck!

Work is work...not much I can post about my job other than I am still enjoying the technical aspect of Autocad and the add-on program for fire sprinklers called HydraCad. I've learned a lot, but there is much more to know!

If you have read all this, thank you...
I'll try to post more often for the 2 or 3 of you who actually read my ramblings...

Thank you, Dad!!

While completing a couple “tasks” this week, I have been watching a PBS mini-series called “Carrier” on It chronicles the lives of sailors aboard the USS Nimitz. Having a dad who served in the Navy, it’s always intrigued me what all happens aboard a ship like this. This series has been an eye opener. SO many things that 4000+ men and women, boys and girls have to deal with while confined on board...everything from sleeping in a tiny box shaped hole, to relationships and friendships with other shipmates, to respecting authority, to when you can and can’t walk on deck…and so much more…not to mention the loneliness and missing family who remain in the states…

While other branches of the military get more press, I have a new respect for those who served in the Navy. I am filled with pride at what MY DAD did all those years! When dad was out to sea, we always looked forward to his return. Sometimes we didn’t even know what part of the world he was. But we always made his return a big deal. What an awesome sight to see that big gray boat moving slowly thru the water with all the sailors in their dress blues standing along the edge of the deck!

While no one can go back in time…I still wonder what it would have been like to serve. Would I have the patience, the desire, the strength it takes to be away from home and family for 6 months or more at a time? Who knows…I was a totally different person when I was that age…if they would take a 49 year old fat, bald (but still amazingly handsome) guy, I would enlist today!!

I love you dad….thank you for YOUR service to our country!!!

What you CAN do...

I don't care what your religion is, or is not.
I don't care what your political affiliation is, or not.
I don't care what your sexual orientation is, or not.
I don't care if you are employed, or not.
I don't care if you are wealthy, or not.

What I DO care about, as should you, is the attempt by the current leader of this country to strip us, me AND you, of our rights. All of them...

History repeats itself, over and a history book. If this guy takes our right to bear arms, he will take the rest of our rights one at a time...WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN!!!

Ruger, a firearms manufacturer, has made it east for you to express your disapproval of the pending action reducing and ultimately eliminating our rights...follow this link, and DO IT.....

Or not...but don't call me when someone is breaking into your house, next door, at 3am, with the intent to rape and kill you, because I am the one in the neighborhood who refused to turn in my gun...I won't protect Barry Hussein...!!!

Fill in the blanks, the site does the rest...even sends your letter to YOUR political "leaders" is what mine looks like:

My Rights vs. Your Rights

In this country, according to the law of the land, you have the right to be a homosexual. According to the US Supreme Court, you have the right to an abortion. You have the right to free speech. You have the right to feel secure in your home. You have the right to a fair and speedy trial. If you are ever charged with any crime, you have the right to a trial by a jury of your peers. You have the right to vote. You have the right to consume alcohol. You have even more civil rights…too numerous to mention. There are others, of course, but you get where I’m going with this.

I also have all of these rights. You must also agree that, according to the Bill of Rights, you also have the Right to Bear Arms.

It’s either all or none.
You must recognize that once the government, be it local, state or federal, starts to take away even ONE of these rights, eventually ALL of your rights will be gone!

You say, “Let the government regulate assault weapons.” Ok, here are a couple things you obviously don’t realize, or comprehend.

1.) “Assault Weapons” are just that…weapons used in an assault. It may sound silly to you, but ANY OBJECT USED DURING AN ASSAULT is an assault weapon. It doesn’t matter if it’s a box cutter (i.e. 9-11), or a baseball bat, a car, a steak knife or any firearm!!

2.) Firearms are ALREADY regulated! You cannot just go into a store and walk out with a gun. ANYWHERE! There are forms to fill out; in some jurisdictions there are even waiting periods. This is already enough ‘regulation’. Show me the store where criminals can walk in and get a gun. Wait, they can buy them anywhere, you say? OF COURSE they can. BECAUSE THEY ARE ILLEGAL GUNS! It’s doesn’t matter if it’s a small .22 caliber revolver holding 5 rounds or a semi-automatic rifle with a 30 or 100 round magazine. Criminals can, and DO, buy them every day. ILLEGALLY!!

I don’t see a requirement for a waiting period for you to get an abortion! You might have to wait for an open appointment, but there is no government mandated waiting period. And God forbid there be a background check like there is for buying a gun!!

You say you want your right to marry a person of the same sex, but you want to limit MY right to own a firearm…I say screw you! MY RIGHT to own a gun is as important to me as YOUR right to be homosexual, or your right to an abortion or anything else you have a right to is to you.
Try to take my right to own a gun, or even regulate them in a more strict manner, but you will have to give up YOUR rights to things YOU want, too!!

The American's Creed

by William Tyler Page

"I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.
I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies."

–Written 1917, accepted by the United States House of Representatives on April 3, 1918.

If you will notice, there is no mention of allowing the government to change any law they wish simply because they were elected into office. There is no mention of choosing which of the Bill of Rights to allow or disallow. There is no mention of sitting around letting libtard, selfish, corrupt, agenda seeking politicians control everything we say, or do.
What is does say, and most people overlook, is the government only has powers that are derived BY THE CONSENT of those who are governed! Do you really need any more explination???
If you don't want to own a gun, don't buy one.
If you want to let the government run over you, sit back and watch...THEY WILL.

Two men walk thru town carrying AR-15's

If you haven't seen it, I posted a link on FB about this news story. (there is a link in this message)

I became encouraged by it and decided to send a message to these men. I could only find one of them, Steven Boyce, on FB. Here is exactly what I sent:

"Based on your cover photo I am assuming you are the Steven Boyce from the KPTV news story? (
I would like to say THANK YOU!!!!!
Your actions made me realize I should be exercising MY right to carry as well!!! Open Carry is legal in NC, and my ccw is in the works...THANK YOU
Don't let the libtards affect you. You have the support of every rational, honest, TRUE American gun owner!!!"

It is my sincere hope that EVERY gun owner throughout the country do 3 things;

1) Write to these men and tencourage them!
2) Write and call your legislators and congressmen demanding the retention of the ENTIRE Bill of Rights, especially the Second Amendment!!
3) (multi-part) Learn your local gun laws, go to a range and practice, obtain a secure holster, CARRY YOUR FRIKKIN GUN (where legal, of course)

Please, share this so YOUR friends can see this and encourage the men in this news story!!

Your loss...

Just gonna say it...and then I will never mention it again...

(I'm certain this will generate feedback in a couple different ways, but it has to be said...)

You say you haven't lied to anyone but yourself...I say "bullshit". By your actions, I am convinced that you only said things to me that you knew I would believe just so you could get what you wanted. "I promise..." obviously doesn't mean squat to you. "We'll remain friends and keep in touch..." Yea, I see how THATs workin out.
You could tell me grass is green and I would have to go look...I can see now, thanks to hindsight, that you are selfish, narcissistic, 'better-than-everybody', lie-cheat-steal to get what you want kind of person.
I can't believe I fell for your crap. One thing is for sure, you screwed over the best thing that you could have ever had on your life. The sad thing is that you know I'm right.
Try to call me now...text me...see what response you get. I hope you can live with yourself knowing that you caused so much grief and turmoil.
I am tired of wondering, hoping to hear, wishing things were different...wishing for just a short text...wondering if you are ok...
There will not be another chance. I am sick if pretending "one day" will ever arrive.
You will never truly know the impact you had on me and those who knew what almost was. I should have listened to the ones who warned me early on...

You have no idea how completely I gave myself to you. I was committed from that first day. You never really understood or believed me. It's obvious now that you never intended to follow through with anything you claimed you were going to do.
For the longest time I have held on to a sliver of hope...maybe, just maybe...but no more.
I'm done. There will be no more holding more more room for all the thoughts and emotions...your damn loss.
I would say it's been nice knowing you, but that is not how I feel. It sucks that I ever let you know me...then, or years ago...your damn loss...

It's time to find someone who will actually want to be with me...someone who will not lie, or make up stories, or just tell me something to make me smile but actually mean what they say...

Good bye...your damn loss...
