The Patriot Guard

Yet another way to thank those who served...

My goal is to obtain a new ride, if for no other reason than to participate and ride with this group again...talk about emotional...try standing in a flag line while WWII, Vietnam, Korean War and other veterans return from an Honor Flight...THAT, my friends, is what those of us who didn't serve can do...honor those who did!!!

Thank You For Your Service (A Moment of Truth)

Watch this video...this is 1) a mother who is raising her son right! and 2) a wake-up call to those liberal, communist scumbags in high positions of our government today! Not calling names, but the main one I wish would see this, comprehend it and change his ways initials are Barry Hussein! (our Idiot-in-Chief)

I have long had a habit of thanking those who have served, and regretted not serving myself. Some have said my LEO days was local service, and I cannot totally disagree. But, every time I see a military member, current or past, I wish that I had served. I don't know how I can possibly thank all the men, women, boy and girls (literally) who have served and are still serving to protect my freedoms in the county.

No one can explain to me why many veterans have been treated poorly in so many ways. It breaks my heart that many of them are homeless and broken. I cannot fathom a government who turns away those who fought to retain our numerous freedoms!

What makes me angry is when the government does not take care of those who served. These people in uniform not only laid down their lives in the colonial days to break away from the tyranny that was England, but they continue to put them selves in harms way to prevent it from coming in and taking over!

Barry, do you not get that??  You shouldn't be "re-distributing wealth" to those ingrates who cling to the government for freebies...those people should be W O R K I N G...if they can't get hired somewhere, put them in a uniform and send them oversees to find these towel-headed terrorist who keep causing problems!!

OK, off soapbox before I offend someone...wait, no, I don't give two duck farts if my blog offends someone!! What I DO care about is our military and helping them after they protected (and continue to protect) us here in the STILL great country of the United States of America!

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!!

(now watch the video...and have a Kleenex ready!)

Wait, what?

I know...I haven't posted anything since last July...but in my defense, on August 2nd of last year, I went into the hospital for a "routine" hernia repair with a projected 2-4 week recovery time. Eight months later, to the day, the surgeon who did the closure finally told me I didn't need to come back unless something happens and I need to. You heard right - EIGHT MONTHS

I won't go into detail with all that has happened since, but I will give you the highlights:

1) Laid off the week before scheduled surgery
2) 47 days in the hospital (some of that in an intubated state - can you say "vivid hallucinations"?)
3) 3 months+ with either no food or clear liquids
4) discovered a love like I've never had before...!! EVER
5) decided to work for myself in the trade I have learned over the past 17 years (and still learning)
6) discovered the rent on this apartment is going up when the lease ends, which means it's time to move, again.

That's about it for highlights...just thought I'd share...

Just Be There...

A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside. “Your son is here,” she said to the old man. She had to repeat the words several times before the patient’s eyes opened.

Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he... dimly saw the young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man’s limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.

The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed. All through the night the young Marine sat there in the poorly lighted ward, holding the old man’s hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile. He refused.

Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients. Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.

Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did what she had to do, he waited.

Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but the Marine interrupted her, “Who was that man?” he asked.

The nurse was startled, “He was your father,” she answered.

“No, he wasn’t,” the Marine replied. “I never saw him before in my life.”

“Then why didn’t you say something when I took you to him?”

“I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son just wasn’t here. When I realized that he was too sick to tell whether or not I was his son, knowing how much he needed me, I stayed. I came here tonight to find a Mr. William Grey. His Son was killed in Iraq today, and I was sent to inform him. What was this Gentleman’s Name? “

The nurse with tears in her eyes answered, “Mr. William Grey………”

The next time someone needs you … just be there.

June Ramblings...

So here it is, the "soon" I mentioned in my last post. It's all relative, ya know...sooner vs later...all depends on the date...

Anyway, I think I'll share some things that have been going on with me since I do have a couple of people who read this blog that I don't get to speak with often enough...

I've finally been able to find a doctor who is helping me get healthy. My blood pressure and sugar had been thru the roof!! They were both at unsafe, practically deadly levels. But I'm glad to say they are both well medicated and under control.
I've seen a surgeon about this frikkin hernia and we are working on scheduling the repair surgery. It's not going to be as simple a procedure as I had hoped. He is going to have to basically remove my intestines, untangle them, put them back where they belong and repair my abdominal muscle with a piece of skin from an animal. He assures me this practice is in the forefront of new medical procedures and is totally safe. But if I grow a curly tail, you better believe he will have to make additional repairs!!! The hospital stay for the surgery will be from 3 to 5 days. Luckily, I have vacation time coming up so I won't have to lose a lot of work.
I have a sleep study scheduled to replace my old CPAP machine. For those who don't know, this machine makes you breath properly while sleeping. This, in turn, reduces the effects of sleep apnea to almost none. Added benefits are weight loss, complete night of rest (which I don't get now because I keep waking up), more energy...etc., so basically a lot of good things.
I'm working on getting back down to a target weight, and the more I lose before my surgery the easier it will be to heal.
If you didn't know, I've sold my bike. The plan was to pay off my car then turn around and finance a nice big bike more suitable for road trips. Well, I did pay off the car, but ran into a problem with a loan. Apparently when you pay cash for everything and have not opened any new credit cards in the past 7 years you can't get a loan. So now I'll just penny pinch and pay cash for a new bike. With no car payment, it shouldn't be too difficult!! Not to mention I will have plenty of time to test ride different models and make sure I get the right one for me!
I've had a couple health things of note the past couple of weeks...my left eye was swollen shut with what turned out to be a type of cellulitis. After 15 days of antibiotics it's finally back to the normal sparkling blue!
This past weekend I had a major allergic reaction to something. My hands were extremely swollen and very painful, I broke out in hives all over...I was a mess! My girl took me to the ER, and after a 2+hour wait the doc shot me full if Benadryl and steroids. They had me wait an hour or so to make sure it was working. Because my hands and wrists were hurting so bad, I asked for some pain relief. Have I mentioned how awesome dilauded is? Good stuff!! So we basically determined it was my new body wash...so much for saving a buck!

Work is work...not much I can post about my job other than I am still enjoying the technical aspect of Autocad and the add-on program for fire sprinklers called HydraCad. I've learned a lot, but there is much more to know!

If you have read all this, thank you...
I'll try to post more often for the 2 or 3 of you who actually read my ramblings...

Soon...

I will post something soon. There are several things going on right now, a couple that might not be public information just yet...
But I will post something new very soon

Thank you, Dad!!

While completing a couple “tasks” this week, I have been watching a PBS mini-series called “Carrier” on Hulu.com. It chronicles the lives of sailors aboard the USS Nimitz. Having a dad who served in the Navy, it’s always intrigued me what all happens aboard a ship like this. This series has been an eye opener. SO many things that 4000+ men and women, boys and girls have to deal with while confined on board...everything from sleeping in a tiny box shaped hole, to relationships and friendships with other shipmates, to respecting authority, to when you can and can’t walk on deck…and so much more…not to mention the loneliness and missing family who remain in the states…

While other branches of the military get more press, I have a new respect for those who served in the Navy. I am filled with pride at what MY DAD did all those years! When dad was out to sea, we always looked forward to his return. Sometimes we didn’t even know what part of the world he was. But we always made his return a big deal. What an awesome sight to see that big gray boat moving slowly thru the water with all the sailors in their dress blues standing along the edge of the deck!

While no one can go back in time…I still wonder what it would have been like to serve. Would I have the patience, the desire, the strength it takes to be away from home and family for 6 months or more at a time? Who knows…I was a totally different person when I was that age…if they would take a 49 year old fat, bald (but still amazingly handsome) guy, I would enlist today!!

I love you dad….thank you for YOUR service to our country!!!

What you CAN do...

I don't care what your religion is, or is not.
I don't care what your political affiliation is, or not.
I don't care what your sexual orientation is, or not.
I don't care if you are employed, or not.
I don't care if you are wealthy, or not.

What I DO care about, as should you, is the attempt by the current leader of this country to strip us, me AND you, of our rights. All of them...

History repeats itself, over and again...read a history book. If this guy takes our right to bear arms, he will take the rest of our rights one at a time...WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN!!!

Ruger, a firearms manufacturer, has made it east for you to express your disapproval of the pending action reducing and ultimately eliminating our rights...follow this link, and DO IT.....

Or not...but don't call me when someone is breaking into your house, next door, at 3am, with the intent to rape and kill you, because I am the one in the neighborhood who refused to turn in my gun...I won't protect you...call Barry Hussein...!!!

Fill in the blanks, the site does the rest...even sends your letter to YOUR political "leaders"....here is what mine looks like:

My Rights vs. Your Rights

In this country, according to the law of the land, you have the right to be a homosexual. According to the US Supreme Court, you have the right to an abortion. You have the right to free speech. You have the right to feel secure in your home. You have the right to a fair and speedy trial. If you are ever charged with any crime, you have the right to a trial by a jury of your peers. You have the right to vote. You have the right to consume alcohol. You have even more civil rights…too numerous to mention. There are others, of course, but you get where I’m going with this.

I also have all of these rights. You must also agree that, according to the Bill of Rights, you also have the Right to Bear Arms.

THESE RIGHTS CANNOT BE SEPARATED!!!

It’s either all or none.
You must recognize that once the government, be it local, state or federal, starts to take away even ONE of these rights, eventually ALL of your rights will be gone!

You say, “Let the government regulate assault weapons.” Ok, here are a couple things you obviously don’t realize, or comprehend.

1.) “Assault Weapons” are just that…weapons used in an assault. It may sound silly to you, but ANY OBJECT USED DURING AN ASSAULT is an assault weapon. It doesn’t matter if it’s a box cutter (i.e. 9-11), or a baseball bat, a car, a steak knife or any firearm!!

2.) Firearms are ALREADY regulated! You cannot just go into a store and walk out with a gun. ANYWHERE! There are forms to fill out; in some jurisdictions there are even waiting periods. This is already enough ‘regulation’. Show me the store where criminals can walk in and get a gun. Wait, they can buy them anywhere, you say? OF COURSE they can. BECAUSE THEY ARE ILLEGAL GUNS! It’s doesn’t matter if it’s a small .22 caliber revolver holding 5 rounds or a semi-automatic rifle with a 30 or 100 round magazine. Criminals can, and DO, buy them every day. ILLEGALLY!!

I don’t see a requirement for a waiting period for you to get an abortion! You might have to wait for an open appointment, but there is no government mandated waiting period. And God forbid there be a background check like there is for buying a gun!!

You say you want your right to marry a person of the same sex, but you want to limit MY right to own a firearm…I say screw you! MY RIGHT to own a gun is as important to me as YOUR right to be homosexual, or your right to an abortion or anything else you have a right to is to you.
Try to take my right to own a gun, or even regulate them in a more strict manner, but you will have to give up YOUR rights to things YOU want, too!!

The American's Creed

by William Tyler Page

"I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.
I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies."

–Written 1917, accepted by the United States House of Representatives on April 3, 1918.

If you will notice, there is no mention of allowing the government to change any law they wish simply because they were elected into office. There is no mention of choosing which of the Bill of Rights to allow or disallow. There is no mention of sitting around letting libtard, selfish, corrupt, agenda seeking politicians control everything we say, or do.
What is does say, and most people overlook, is the government only has powers that are derived BY THE CONSENT of those who are governed! Do you really need any more explination???
If you don't want to own a gun, don't buy one.
If you want to let the government run over you, sit back and watch...THEY WILL.

Two men walk thru town carrying AR-15's

If you haven't seen it, I posted a link on FB about this news story. (there is a link in this message)

I became encouraged by it and decided to send a message to these men. I could only find one of them, Steven Boyce, on FB. Here is exactly what I sent:

"Based on your cover photo I am assuming you are the Steven Boyce from the KPTV news story? (http://www.kptv.com/story/20548025/men-armed-with-rifles-walk-through-portland-to-educate)
I would like to say THANK YOU!!!!!
Your actions made me realize I should be exercising MY right to carry as well!!! Open Carry is legal in NC, and my ccw is in the works...THANK YOU
Don't let the libtards affect you. You have the support of every rational, honest, TRUE American gun owner!!!"

It is my sincere hope that EVERY gun owner throughout the country do 3 things;

1) Write to these men and tencourage them!
2) Write and call your legislators and congressmen demanding the retention of the ENTIRE Bill of Rights, especially the Second Amendment!!
3) (multi-part) Learn your local gun laws, go to a range and practice, obtain a secure holster, CARRY YOUR FRIKKIN GUN (where legal, of course)

Please, share this so YOUR friends can see this and encourage the men in this news story!!

Your loss...

Just gonna say it...and then I will never mention it again...

(I'm certain this will generate feedback in a couple different ways, but it has to be said...)

You say you haven't lied to anyone but yourself...I say "bullshit". By your actions, I am convinced that you only said things to me that you knew I would believe just so you could get what you wanted. "I promise..." obviously doesn't mean squat to you. "We'll remain friends and keep in touch..." Yea, I see how THATs workin out.
You could tell me grass is green and I would have to go look...I can see now, thanks to hindsight, that you are selfish, narcissistic, 'better-than-everybody', lie-cheat-steal to get what you want kind of person.
I can't believe I fell for your crap. One thing is for sure, you screwed over the best thing that you could have ever had on your life. The sad thing is that you know I'm right.
Try to call me now...text me...email me...see what response you get. I hope you can live with yourself knowing that you caused so much grief and turmoil.
I am tired of wondering, hoping to hear, wishing things were different...wishing for just a short text...wondering if you are ok...
There will not be another chance. I am sick if pretending "one day" will ever arrive.
You will never truly know the impact you had on me and those who knew what almost was. I should have listened to the ones who warned me early on...

You have no idea how completely I gave myself to you. I was committed from that first day. You never really understood or believed me. It's obvious now that you never intended to follow through with anything you claimed you were going to do.
For the longest time I have held on to a sliver of hope...maybe, just maybe...but no more.
I'm done. There will be no more holding on...no more wondering...no more room for all the thoughts and emotions...your damn loss.
I would say it's been nice knowing you, but that is not how I feel. It sucks that I ever let you know me...then, or years ago...your damn loss...

It's time to find someone who will actually want to be with me...someone who will not lie, or make up stories, or just tell me something to make me smile but actually mean what they say...

Good bye...your damn loss...

Worth the risk...?

I know there are those who view my blog, but are not able to see my Facebook...here is my lasted post:

For those of you who are "afraid" of guns, take a class...LEARN about guns...or come spend an afternoon at the range with me, I'll teach you...one way or a nother, EDUCATE YOURSELF...you say "Guns should be banned like in the UK and Australia"... MOVE THERE...imagine this; I live next door to you, late at night two armed criminals kick in your front door, it wakes you, you scream, which wakes me, which would you rather happen...you call 911 and wait for a cop, 10, 20, 30 minutes? Or would you rather I come in after 30 seconds WITH MY GUN and save your life?

Support gun control laws that require my guns be removed from my possession and it very well could cost you your life...I'm Just Sayin...!

A Little Known Christmas Story

One Christmas, a long time ago, Santa Claus was getting ready for his annual trip; but there were problems …… everywhere.

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure.
...
Then Mrs Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.

Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered.

Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drank all the cider and hidden the liquor. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree. The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?'

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

Christmas thoughts...

It was not necessarily an easy decision, but because of several things, I won’t be able to visit my family in Charleston tomorrow. I’m sure my family understands. I will miss deep frying the turkey… I hope they can handle it without me. My Christmas dinner will consist of garlic butter/lemon pepper sautéed shrimp with a white wine sauce over gemelli (spiral) pasta. I have some gifts from my brothers under my 9” tree so I will still have the Christmas experience. I will spend the day watching movies online and hopefully go see something on the big screen. I have several friends around the country that I met thru an online networking site, so I’m sure I will chat with some of them during the day as well.

There are so many more thoughts I wish I could share, but words are often difficult to express. Yes, even for me.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!!

Sandy Fork Elementary School, Newton, CT

The criminal act at Sandy Fork Elementary School was a tragic event. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind it was perpetrated by an individual with serious mental health issues. The heartbreak of the surviving families is beyond imagination or comprehension. It has caused many people to question the reasons why it happened, how it happened, could it have been prevented and what do we do now?
There is rarely a simple answer to questions like these. We may never know why. Investigators will most likely uncover how. They will probably also make suggestions on how it could have been prevented. What I want to address is “What do we do now?”

Of course we grieve for the loss of these precious people…the innocent people who suffered at the hand of a mad man. Their families will never get over the pain. It is hoped that they will learn to express their grief and become strong each day. Only time will tell. Those of us who were not directly affected by the loss of a family member can also help. There are no words we can utter that will actually help. It’s just not possible.
But we can be a shoulder for them, offering comfort. That’s probably all we can actually do for the families. It may not seem like much, and should never be forced. We just need to quietly make it known that we are there if they need us. It may be just the thing that helps.  ‘Being there’ may not seem like much to some people, but to those who need a shoulder to literally cry on, it may just be the thing that helps.  Granted, others in the community can help by dropping meals at the homes of the families so those families don’t have to stress about that part, but even that can be a great blessing to a grieving family.

What else can we do now? This is where it can get cloudy, even problematic. Many people will start saying we need to ban all firearms in the country. Others will say we need to require more background checks and waiting periods for purchasing firearms. Some will say we need to pass more laws. The debate will rage in all different directions and configurations.
Most of you, who have seen my posts, have no doubt I am a firm believer in the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Some of you disagree with this belief. But this is MY blog. Years ago when I started it, I called it “My Life, My Thoughts” because that’s just what is posted…MY THOUGHTS…I’m not going to say I have the final word, but I do get to use this blog to offer my two cents worth…so here it is (and feel free to quote me, post a comment, un-friend me, I don’t give two flyin’ duck farts either way):

“We don’t need more gun laws, we need more gun education!”
It will probably be made known where this assailant obtained those weapons in days to come, but it’s a pretty safe bet that had he been mentally capable of safe firearm use, this tragedy may never have occurred. I said “may”… We cannot second guess past events, but only try to understand parts of them prevent future events. If the person who stored these firearms would have done so in a SAFE manner, this assailant would at the least have had more difficulty getting to them. Perhaps even that could have been just enough of a deterrent to allow time for someone to diffuse the situation as a whole and prevented the loss of ANY life, in this case. Had the firearms been either properly secured in a holster on the hip of a trained, qualified concealed weapons permit holder, or locked safely away, perhaps they wouldn’t have been in this assailant’s hands.

“We don’t need more gun laws, we need more gun education!”

Here something to think about. I copied the following from the Business Insider website:
“Switzerland.
The neutral country has a tradition of a gun in every closet, and ranks amongst the highest levels of gun ownership in the world — with estimate of as many as 4.5 million guns in a country of just 7.9 million people (few countries have more guns per capita — the U.S. and Yemen are two).
However, gun related crime is remarkably low, with only 24 gun murders in 2009 — 0.3 gun homicides per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 2007 figures in the US of 4.2 per 100,000 people, according to Time Magazine. However, attempts to compare the US to Switzerland gloss over the vast differences between the two countries.
For example, the nature of gun ownership in Switzerland is tied to the military. Switzerland has a very small standing army, and citizens are expected to act as militiamen should the country be invaded. Every 18-30 years old Swiss male between has to do three months' military training, and many more regular refresher courses. The majority of guns are army-issued, though rules on private gun ownership are very lax compared to other European countries.”

Dare I suggest every male US Citizen serve time in the military? You’re damn right I do! Too many young men in today’s society grow up without a positive role model. I didn’t say a MALE role model, I said POSITIVE role model. All they know is what they have seen on TV, in movies, and in video games. Those sources do NOT reflect real world situations. IN MY OPINION, this all started when the draft dodgers of the 60’s tore up their draft cards and fled to Canada. (Yes, Canada aided by letting these pansies in)
Then people started banging drums in circles, thumbing their noses at laws that were established to protect everyone, and twisting basic human rights into something THEY decided was best. They wanted to smoke anything that would make them feel good. They wanted to flip over cow patties and eat the mushrooms growing there because it made them feel good. They wanted to gather in a field, play loud, often senseless, music and take their clothes off, sleep in tents and pee in the grass. They wanted to sleep with everyone else’s spouse. They wanted to be free to do as they wish…”Whatever feels good, man…just do it, man.”

Oh, I’m getting riled up and off track, pardon me.
Back to gun education…

I’m not saying every person who serves will become the perfect citizen. Oh no, far from it. Proof of this is that idiot (again, MY opinion) who killed the soldiers in Fort Hood, TX. Now he wants to file a lawsuit because the Military Court says he has to shave the beard he grew because of his muslim faith! Seriously? You’re still considered “active duty”…sit down and shut the hell up!!! You’re on trial for murder, you friggin dumbass! You have rights, you say? You lost those rights when you took the lives of those soldiers. You were not in imminent danger, or being threatened. You were not acting in self-defense. Shut the hell up.
What I’m saying is he was TAUGHT how to handle firearms. How to clean them, carry them, fire them. He was taught by OUR government. Who knows exactly why or how his head got all twisted. That’s not the point I’m making…HE is an exception. The point is he was taught!

You can’t pick up a Guns & Ammo magazine and learn all you need to know about gun safety. Sure, you can learn a lot…but not enough. You need to be taught! You can’t learn how to drive a car by reading the Driver’s Handbook printed by the state!!! You need to be taught. I was taught to drive by my grandfather, my older cousin and my parents. Well, I was taught pursuit driving by the state of SC, but that’s not my point. Wait, yes it is!! It’s EXACTLY my point!
I WAS ALSO TAUGHT TO SHOOT A GUN!! If I could go back in time, to 1985, I would have passed on the job offer from the State Highway Patrol and pursued a career in the Air Force. I had planned to be an M.P. when the letter from the state came. I have said often, and firmly believe that I should have served. Of course I can’t change that now. But I encourage military service often. I cannot thank those who serve, past AND present, enough!! Those men and women are the reason I have the RIGHT to post this and share it. It’s called the First Amendment of Free Speech. Sure, it give YOU the right to disagree and post anything YOU wish, but my point is THEIR SERVICE is what maintains this freedom!!

GUN EDUCATION
I will in no way, shape or form ever totally agree with stricter gun laws. Revise them? Maybe…but only if you broaden them as well. Not only ALLOW every adult male to own a gun, but REQUIRE IT. Require every male (and allow women who wish to participate) to go thru an extensive class on gun safety. Make this a requirement for gun ownership. Make “Open Carry” legal in every state. Don’t allow those wimpy ass cities to make their own ordinance over-riding these laws. Crimes involving firearms are already illegal. How is another law about the illegal use of a gun going to deter a criminal from committing a gun related crime??

There are laws already that forbid felons and mentally unstable people from buying a gun…FROM A DEALER. Laws SAY it’s illegal to sell a gun without a Firearms License.” So explain to me how all these criminals still get their hands on them!

EDUCATION AND TRAINING!!!

Teach, not punish gun owners. Promote Gun Safety.

Always the friend...

Ya know...I was prompted last week by an unexpected and emotionally charged message to block some people and make my page private. But I've done a LOT of thinking since then...I am not going to shut people out - that would be a direct violation of my core belief...to be available for ANY friend or acquaintance who needs someone to talk to.

I've needed friends to listen in times of need, and if I didn't have them, I would truly be certifiable by now! Sometimes just opening up and sharing lets us see ourselves in a different light. Maybe if we hear ourselves saying something instead of just thinking it, we can get a better grasp of the thought.

Or maybe the person we share something with helps us see things from a different perspective...

What I do...
